Herbs for the Home 101 - Essential Oils

March 14 - 19, 2010

During this hands-on class, Susan Belsinger will discuss using herbs and essential oils for cleaning house, making herbal spa products and home remedies, as well as first aid and gardener’s comforts. She will show you how to use common household ingredients and demonstrate recipes from her book the creative herbal home, co-authored with the Ozark Folk Center’s own Tina Marie Wilcox.

Once you get to know the herbs and oils, become familiar with their fragrances and characteristics, you will find them an essential part of your life. The first day we will concentrate on herb basics and day two we’ll work with essential oils, creating household cleaning agents, sugar scrubs, spritzers, bath salts, bath bags, herbal salve, tinctures and insect repellent. On our last half day we’ll create formulas and experience an herbal facial steam, a natural mask for your skin type, and a relaxing foot soak. Handouts and folders included.

A non-refundable registration fee of $45 is due at the time of registration. The remainder of the class fee ($205.00) and the materials fee is due to the instructor at the beginning of class. Susan accepts cash or check. (does not include meals/lodging)
