After Dark in the Park

Ozark Spooky Stories, pumpkin carving, a costume contest and more. Safe and fun for the whole family

After Dark in the Park
October 31, 2012

– Haints and Hollers and ghoulies and ghosties. There’s a tradition of spooky tales and curious happenings in these Ozark hills. Come to the Ozark Folk Center State Park on this Halloween night, Wednesday, October 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for After Dark in the Park. This event will be fun for the whole family.

There will be storytellers and musicians playing throughout the park. You’ll have your choice of carving a pumpkin, or painting one. A continuous costume contest will be held in the large Auditorium and of course, there will be lots of candy. The Smokehouse, Skillet and Auditorium concession stand will be open and serving their regular foods if you need more substantial fare.

The ghost camp will be cooking up something scary and there are rumors of a haunted room. Many of the shops in the Craft Village will be open if shopping is your pleasure. The Gift Shop will be open with crafts from around Arkansas, books of all kind, hats, and other specialty items.

Admission is free for this event. Start in the lower parking lot. The General Store will have maps and information about times for specific events. The buses will be running up and down the hill all evening. If your business or group wants to set up in the park for After Dark, call 870-269-3851 for more information.
